Invitation event Romania Antarctica

Between 1897 and 1899, the famous Romanian scientist Emil Racoviţă travelled to the South Pole on an international scientific mission on board of Belgica. In 2005, famous Romanian scientist Teodor Negoita finalized negotiations with representatives of Australia for the joint use by Australia and Romania of future-to-be Law-Racovita station, the apex of his lifelong passion and research dedicated to Antarctica.In 2013, during the XXXVI Antarctic Treaty Consultative Meeting in Brussels, Emil Racoviţă travels to Belgium, together with the memory of Teodor Negoita and nowadays Romanian research about Antarctica.

 

On the occasion of the XXXVI ATCM meeting, His Excellency Stefan Tinca, Ambassador of Romania to Belgium, Actie Dorpen Roemenie – Vlaanderen, Romanian Office for Science and Technology to the EU, Romanian Academy - National Commission for Antarctic Research, invite you to attend an extraordinary event: the avant-première of the documentary “Emil Racoviţă - The Explorer” by Visual Arts Foundation – Bucharest and presentation by Dr Florica Toparceanu and Mihaela Cotta “Current aspects of Romanian scientific research in Antarctica”.

 

The event will take place on Monday, May 20, 15.00 h – 17.30 h, at the Residence of the Ambassador, rue Washington, no 37, 1050 Bruxelles. As number of places are limited, please confirm your participation by 17th of May at: event@roumanieamb.be
